Autumn Sonata

Autumn is the most sought after season for me. A time I would like to make it still if I could, so that everything drapes over in its best. Its crisp temperatures, rewarding blue skies, rolling patch-work of flaming golds, pumpkin oranges, eye-popping apple reds and what not.

And, at times a reluctant rain under all-round jealousy and pressure drenching everything to blues. Love you, Nature, for you only know how to produce the greatest effects with the most limited means!

-സുരേഷ് നെല്ലിക്കോട്‌ ഒരു ബുധനാഴ്ച സായാഹ്നം. രാജേന്ദ്ര മേത്ത വിശ്രമിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. അന്നു്‌ വൈകിട്ടു്‌ ഇന്ത്യാ സോഷ്യല്‍ സെന്ററില്‍ നടക്കുന്ന ഗസല്‍ സദസ്സിലേക്കുള്ള തയ്യാറെടുപ്പായിരുന്നു, അതുവരെ. .......ഭാരതം വിഭജിക്കപ്പെടുകയായിരുന്നു. ഒന്‍പതു വയസ്സുകാരന്റെ അത്ഭുതങ്ങളുമായി, വിഹ്വലതകളുമായി അദ്ദേഹം വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്കപ്പുറത്തേയ്ക്കു് ഓര്‍മ്മയുടെ കുളമ്പടികളില്‍ സഞ്ചരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം പാടി. യാദോം കാ ഏക് ഝോംകാ ആയാഹംസേ മില്‍നേ ബര്‍സോം ബാദ്‌.. അവര്‍ നമ്മെ അകറ്റൂകയാണു്‌, ദൈവങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നു പോലും!

ദൈവം പോലും നമുക്ക് അന്യനായി. അഹിന്ദുക്കളെ ഗുരുവായൂരില്‍ പ്രവേശിപ്പിക്കുന്നതില്‍ ദേവന് അഹിതമുണ്ടെന്നു കണ്ടെത്താന്‍ ഒരു ദേവ പ്രശ്നത്തിനായി. എന്താണ് ഹിന്ദുത്വത്തിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനയോഗ്യത? ആരാണ് അത് നിശ്ചയിക്കാന്‍ യോഗ്യര്‍? ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ ഈ ദേവപ്രശ്നത്തിനു പിന്നില്‍ അതിക്രൂരമായൊരു ഗൂഢാലോചനയുണ്ട്. മന്ത്രി സുധാകരന്‍ തുടങ്ങി വച്ച ഒരു ജനകീയ വിവാദത്തിനു തടയിടാന്‍ സാധാരണക്കാരായ വിശ്വാസികളെ തെറ്റിദ്ധരിപ്പിക്കാനായി സവര്‍ണമേധാവിത്വം സ്വയം ഏറ്റെടുത്ത ചിലര്‍ കാട്ടിക്കൂട്ടിയ കോപ്രായങ്ങളാണവിടെ നമ്മള്‍ കണ്ടതു്‌. ഈ സ്വയംകൃതാധികാരികള്‍ക്കു്‌ ആരാണ്‌ ഈ ഹിന്ദുത്വകോടതിയുടെ പരമാധികാരം കൊടുത്തതു്‌? എല്ലാ ഇന്ത്യക്കാരനേയും 'ഹിന്ദു'വായി കാണാനുള്ള വിശാലമനസ്കതയില്ലാത്തതാണ് നമ്മുടെ പ്രശ്നം. സവര്‍ണ്ണമേധാവിത്വം ജാതിയും മതവും പറഞ്ഞു മാറ്റി നിറുത്തുമ്പോള്‍ സ്വന്തം കൂട്ടായ്മകളിലേയ്ക്കു മടങ്ങാന്‍ അവര്‍ നിര്‍ബ്ബന്ധിതരാവുന്നു. അപ്പോള്‍ അതു ഭാരതവിരുദ്ധമെന്നും പൊതുവായ ചിന്താധാരയ്ക്കെതിരാണെന്നും അവര്‍ വിധിക്കുന്നു. ഈ സ്ഥിതി മാറാതിരിക്കുവോളം നാം വിഘടിത വിഭാഗങ്ങളാകുന്നു. പക്ഷേ, ഇവിടെ ജാതി നമ്മുടെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കലല്ലാത്തിടത്തോളം ക
