-സുരേഷ് നെല്ലിക്കോട്‌ ഒരു ബുധനാഴ്ച സായാഹ്നം. രാജേന്ദ്ര മേത്ത വിശ്രമിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. അന്നു്‌ വൈകിട്ടു്‌ ഇന്ത്യാ സോഷ്യല്‍ സെന്ററില്‍ നടക്കുന്ന ഗസല്‍ സദസ്സിലേക്കുള്ള തയ്യാറെടുപ്പായിരുന്നു, അതുവരെ. .......ഭാരതം വിഭജിക്കപ്പെടുകയായിരുന്നു. ഒന്‍പതു വയസ്സുകാരന്റെ അത്ഭുതങ്ങളുമായി, വിഹ്വലതകളുമായി അദ്ദേഹം വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്കപ്പുറത്തേയ്ക്കു് ഓര്‍മ്മയുടെ കുളമ്പടികളില്‍ സഞ്ചരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം പാടി. യാദോം കാ ഏക് ഝോംകാ ആയാഹംസേ മില്‍നേ ബര്‍സോം ബാദ്‌.. ഡീന് ‍ എന്ന ദീനാനാഥ്‌ ദത്ത വെനീസില് ‍ കണ്ട അതേകാഴ്ചകള് ‍ ക്ക് ഞാനും സാക്ഷ്യം വഹിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. റാഫിയെപ്പോലെയും ഫൊസ്‌ലുല് ‍ ഹൊക്ക് ചൗധരിയെപ്പോലെയുമുള്ള ആളുകളെ കണ്ടു സംസാരിച്ചിരുന്ന ഒരു യാത്ര. അവരിലെ ഭൂരിപക്ഷവും കടല് ‍ നീന്തി വന്നവരായിരുന്നു. അഭയാര് ‍ ത്ഥികളായിരുന്നു. അവരില് ‍ ചിലര് ‍ വെനീസ് തെരുവുകളില് ‍ ചിത്രങ്ങള് ‍ വരച്ചു വില് ‍ ക്കാനിരിക്കുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.അധികാരികളുടെ വേട്ടയ്ക്കിടയില് ‍ പലപ്പോഴും ആ ചിത്രങ്ങള് ‍ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് ഓടിരക്ഷപ്പെടുന്നവരായിരുന്നു. ലുബ്നയെപ്പോലെയല്ലായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും അവിടെ ജീവിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ബംഗ്ലാദേശി സ്ത്രീയെ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. റെസ്റ്റൊറന്റുകളുടെ പിന് ‍ ‌വാതിലിലൂടെ കേള് ‍ ക്കുന്ന സംഭാഷണത്തിന് ‍ റെ ഉറവിടങ്ങള് ‍ തേടിച്ചെന്ന് അവരില് ‍ ചിലരോടൊക്കെ സംസാരിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇടയ്ക്കിടെ പുറത്തേയ്ക്കു നോക്കിയും ഭയപ്പെട്ടും സംസാരിച്ചിരുന്ന അവരെക്കണ്ടപ്പോള് ‍ , ഹിംസ്രജന്തുക്കളുടെയിടയില് ‍ പ്പെട്ടുപോയ നിരാലംബമൃഗങ്ങളെയാണ്‌ ഓര് ‍ മ്മ വന്നത്. പുറം ലോകവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെടാനോ അപരിചിതരുമായി സംസാരിക്കാനോ പോലും അനുവാദമില്ലാത്തവരായിരുന്നു അവര് ‍ . എന്നും ഭീതിയുടെ നിഴലില് ‍ , ആഗ്രഹങ്ങളടക്കി
